“The Lyrical Mallet Player – 7 Vibraphone Solo Compositions” was born after more than 20 years of touring and performing my own music in concerts and masterclasses around the world. Over the years, many students asked me to publish these pieces so they could perform them in recitals, concerts, and exams. With the encouragement and support of Mr. Svitzer, I finally decided to make this project a reality.

These compositions reflect my belief in technique placed at the service of melody and harmony. They explore creativity and improvisation while addressing essential aspects of musicianship such as musicality, expressiveness, phrasing, and sound control. The vibraphone allows me to approach the instrument like a pianist, creating a balanced and independent relationship between the right and left mallets.

Each piece includes a clear melodic statement and a short written solo, which performers may choose to play as written or replace with their own improvisation, if they are comfortable doing so.

    • Congratulations Marco to ”The Lyrical Mallet Player”, seven beautiful songs with a rare trait; they can be played everywhere, from the club to the cathedral.

Marco gives each performer great freedom to make an own version of each song. If you come from an improvised world you can improvise and experiment on the melody based on the form. If you are not that familiar to improvisation, every song has an composed version based on Marcos extraordinary music making and unique expression.

These pieces will add a flavour to your repertoire and soon be favourites of yours.

      Love your work
